1. Go to Google Calendar at www.google.com. Set up an account using an email address and password. You will then be steered to the calendar home page.
2. Add entries from the specific calendar page you are on by clicking in a date area. After adding the title of the event, click on "edit event details" to change times, dates. locations, or repeating entries as you wish. By clicking an existing entry, you can make changes to the event already entered, including changes to single cases of repeating events. To view all the details about an event, click on it.
3. To create additional named calendars : Click settings on the left under
"My Calendars" on the calendar home page and click "Create new
calendar" button on the settings page. Make sure to click "save"
each time you want to navigate away from the current setting page, so that your
changes are made permanent.
Helpful notes:
(a) You may need to return to settings after that by clicking settings and your
calendar name from the main calendar page.
(b) Using the drop down menu next to the calendar name and clicking "Calendar
settings" avoids the two step process.
(c) You can also access other features for changing your calendar from this
drop down menu. ou can use this default calendar under your account name or
set up multiple calendars.
(d) The default view in your calendar view is to see all named calendar entries
in any calendar. If you want to view only entries from one calender, click the
drop down menu next to the calendar name on the left and click "Display
only this Calendar."
When you first set up your calendars, you must also do this also:
4. Click settings for the calendar you wish to edit. Click on the share this calendar tab and check "Make this calendar public" if you want anyone to see the calendar from the web (they cannot not make changes). Note: If you don't check this, only those on a name list you supply from this page can view the calendar, and viewing the calendar by those on the authorized list gets complicated.
5. Click settings again under the "Other calendars". Do not click on any specific calendar. Click the General tab and change options as you wish that will effect all calendars under your account.
6. Important for putting a link to your calendar on the kentwood website:
Navigate to the settings for the named calendar. Go to the calendar details
tab and click the blue "HTML" button. A popup window will appear.
Copy the web address (i.e., http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=1kjfh7pu9bjplcad2ttm5qi0bc%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=UTC)
in the popup window and send this in an email to webmaster@kentwoodplayer.org
along with a descriptive name of the calender which will identify the link to
the calendar. Copy the link text to the email by:
(a) highlighting the text by dragging your mouse over the text (hold the right
click down, after setting the cursor at the end of the text and drag backwards),
(b) hitting Control C on your keyboard or selecting copy from the menu,
(c) pasting the information in the email using Control V on your keyboard or
selecting paste from the menu).
(d) You can also copy all the text in the popup window and send it.
