General Meeting: The General Meeting this month will be on Wednesday, December 15, 2004, 8 PM.

The Board will provide the seasonal goodies for our traditional Holiday Party, which will be held in lieu of our regular workshop presentation. Members are also encouraged to bring their favorite Holiday dish to share. So, be there with Holiday Spirit!! Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah to all.

1940’s Radio Hour: November/December Production

1940’s Radio Hour closes December 18, 2004. Be sure to see this delightful musical before it closes.

Peripheral Vision This one act play for seniors will be directed by August Vivirito. It was one of the winners of a one-act play contest at the Attic Theater. There will be 2 performances, February 12th and February 19th, 2005.

The Sunshine Boys January/February Production

The Sunshine Boys opens January 14, 2005 and closes February 19. Shari Barrett is set to stage manage the show and was inadvertently omitted from the November Bulletin as having helped with the auditions for the show. Thank you Shari!

WORK SUNDAY FOR THE SUNSHINE BOYS

Work Sunday for The Sunshine Boys will be on December 19, 2004. Producers Calia Mintzer and Charlotte Schildkret plan a New York style lunch, so bring your tools and all your friends to the theater on Sunday 12/19, starting at 10 AM. It is a great way to meet people, learn something about theater, lend a helping hand, lunch with friends AND earn those ever important membership POINTS!

Company May/June Production

Director Aileen-Marie Scott and producers Larry Jones and Sheridan Cole

Auditions will be held Saturday March 12th, 12-3 and Sunday March 13 7-9, callbacks TBD. Please prepare 16 bars of music to show range (no Webber please), audition accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in appropriate key. No taped music or acapella. Be ready to read from the script. No movement till callbacks. Looking for strong actor/singers, all types, looks and ethnicities encouraged to audition.

Character Breakdown:

AMY - A frantic, neurotic, loving woman, alto, early 30's
APRIL - A girlfriend of Robert - a flight attendant; a bit air-headed, but adorable, soprano, 20's
DAVID - Jenny's husband, relaxed, in control, tenor, late 30's to 40's
HARRY - Sarah's husband - an alcoholic in self-denial, tenor, 40's
JENNY - Quietly manipulative, simultaneously square and wise, soprano, late 30's-40
JOANNE - Acerbic, funny, demanding, alto, 40-50's
KATHY - A girlfriend of Robert - sweet and very much in need of love, mezzo, 20-30's, strong dancer!!!
LARRY - Joanne's husband, stoic and centered, baritone, 40's-50's
MARTA - A girlfriend of Robert - an intensely "with-it" woman, alto with high belt, 20's
PAUL - Amy's fiancé - coolly loving to Amy's neurotic nature, tenor, 30's
PETER - Susan's husband - the perfect husband and ex-husband, baritone, 30's-40's
ROBERT - An observer, seemingly happy, but with a hidden pain, strong tenor, must play 35
SARAH - Crisply critical, karate-learning over-eater, alto late 30's early 40's,
SUSAN - A delicate southern belle, soprano, 30's to 40's

The Rainmaker July/August Production

Our July/August production of The Rainmaker will be directed by August Vivirito.

Light Up the Sky September/October Production

Our September/October production of Light Up the Sky will be directed by Kathleen Chapin.

Kentwood Dinner Dance 2004/2005 Season

Dinner Dance Chairman Calia Mintzer would like everyone to be sure to put the Dinner Dance date in your new 2005 calendar. This season’s gala will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2005. Members need to see every show for the season, so they can vote on the awards.

Costume Diva Maria Cohen would like to extend a special thanks to The Hospice Thrift Avenue thrift store for all of their contributions this past year to Kentwood Players, THANK YOU!

Announcements

Shelle James, illustrious president of Kentwood Players, announced at our last meeting, the theater is now in the black, with a year to date profit of $240.00!!

Jonas Rimson’s Family has donated $200.00 in his memory to Kentwood Players.

Kentwood Players has donated $100.00 to PV Players for their Building Fund.

Helen Geller appeared in the Dec.9th episode of "Will & Grace.” She had a speaking role as Fiona, the Irish maid of Will's mother.

Aileen-Marie Scott will be performing the role of Amy in Company at Conejo Players Theater. Please go to http://www.conejoplayers.org/ for more information. Maria Cohen is trying to put together a theater party to attend the Charles Dickens Festival in Riverside, the first week of February 2005. See her at the meeting if you are interested or have additional questions.
