This
month will feature an Americanized interpretation
of the second act of Strindberg's classic "The
Father," directed by Michael Murphy. The cast
will include Sheridan Cole, Howard Leibgot, Jeanne
Bascom-Spain, James Manley Green, and Chelsea White. |
Barefoot in the Park:
Neil Simon's comedy is being directed by Larry Jones
and produced by Carmen Lynne. Barefoot in the Park plays
through April 17. Don't miss out on all the fun.
A Midsummer Night's Dream:
Director Rob Duval, Assistant Director Shari Barrett,
and Producers Ed and De Cotter are working with a talented
cast and crew on this fanciful Shakespearean comedy.
Included in the cast are:
Natisha Anderson, Randy Ball, Natalia Barzilai, Tom
Brophey, Jon Erickson, Andrew Fitzsimmons, Frederick
Frazier, Lauren Friedman, William Goldyn, Brenda Harris,
Donald Heath, Gemma Levine, Lori Marple-Pereslete, Charles
C. Nickerson, Catherine Rahm, Dana Shew, Max Heldring
Stormes, and Mai Yaari.
Performances are May 7 through June 12. There will be
no performance on Mother's Day. Sunday, April 18 is
Work Sunday. Work begins at 9:00 AM. A fabulous lunch
will be provided for all who participate. You don't
want to miss out. Meet your friends, meet the cast,
be a part of something special.
Picnic: William
Inge's timeless play is to be directed by Gail Bernardi
and produced by Calia Mintzer and Margie Bates for the
July/August time-slot. Auditions will be held Saturday
May 8 from 10:00 - 3:00 PM and Monday, May 10 from 7:00
- 10:00 PM. (Please note, this is a change from last
month's announced dates.) The following is the cast
of characters:
Helen Potts: 60-65. A widow - a merry little woman living
with her invalid mother.
Hal Carter: mid 20's. A husky and handsome young man,
he's brash and full of himself.
Millie Owens: 16. A wiry girl, boisterous and assertive,
but likable. She's just trying to hide her basic shyness.
Bomber: About 16. A tough kid, the paper boy.
Madge Owens: 18. An unusually beautiful girl who seems
to take her beauty for granted.
Flo Owens: 40-45. Mother of Madge and Millie. She has
worked hard for the past ten years to be both mother
and father to the girls.
Rosemary Sidney: 40. A school teacher and border in
Flo's house. She pretends to be uninterested in men,
but she really wants to marry.
Alan Seymour: About 24. Madge's beau. Refined, good
looking, comes from one of the richest families in town.
Irma Kronkite: Teacher who works with and is a friend
of Rosemary.
Christine Schoenwalder: Teacher who works with and is
a friend of Rosemary.
Howard Bevins: Middle age. A small town businessman.
Rosemary's sometimes date.
The 1940's Radio Hour:
This musical will be produced by Rocky and Vicki Miller.
Murder on the Nile:
This Agatha Christie classic will be produced by Lori
Pereslete.
Peter Cottontail: This charming children's play written
and directed by Catherine Rahm and produced by Shellee
James had two adorable, successful performances. Congratulations
to everyone involved.
This and that (that shouldn't
go unread): Shellee James, House Manager, had an
upstairs toilet and the lobby drinking fountain repaired.

Nominations from the floor will be accepted at the April
meeting. Elections are in May (Have you attended at
least three meetings and earned your points?? If you're
not sure, check with membership chairperson Gert Nord.)
Dinner Dance: The Kentwood
Players annual Masque Awards Dinner Dance will be held
June 26, 2004 at the Elks Club, 8025 W. Manchester Blvd.,
Playa del Rey, 90293. Parking is behind the club and
plentiful. This year will feature a buffet dinner, a
no host bar, recorded dance music and a great program
in between the awards. Michelle Rosen will be our M.C.
Sheldon Metz will chair the program. Barbara Brophey
will accompany our performers and be in charge of the
trophies. Tom Brophey will do the invitations and programs,
which will run ads for $25 and $50. If you have a business
you want to advertise or want a printed greeting, get
it ready and give it to Tom. The committee consists
of Calia Mintzer, Sheldon Metz, Charlotte Schildkret,
Barbara and Tom Brophey, Julia Maggs, Jeanne Spain,
and Linda Parke. Special thanks to Rudi Toepfer who
is a member of the Elks Club and has been very helpful
in making arrangements. Invitations will be going out
in May, so be sure and save the date. More information
in forthcoming bulletins.
Here, There, and Everywhere:
Jaz Davison's 30th Anniversary Production of The Rocky
Horror Show is getting rave reviews. It plays Fridays
at 9:00 PM and Saturdays at 8:00 PM. Call and make your

you. Sheridan Cole recently visited New York and had
an opportunity to see a wonderful production of Henry
IV edited and directed by Jerry Less. Jeff Ircink's
original play "The Golgotha Crux" has been
selected as one of six finalists in the Dayton Playhouse
"Futurefest 2004" play competition. They will
fly Jeff down there July 22 - 25 and put him up in a
hotel for a three day weekend of readings and productions
with an esteemed panel of judges who will critique each
entry and pick a winner. Congratulations! Judy and Lee
Polak recently returned from a three week Grand Circle
Tour of China. They took in all the sites in Beijing,
Shanghai, Chongqing, Xi'an, and Hong Kong. It was an
unforgettable trip. Ed Cotter is directing David Mamet's
Oleanna at the Little Fish Theatre in San Pedro. The
plot involves a charge of sexual harassment that destroys
lives, derails careers, and ultimately leads to a completely
unexpected cataclysmic event. Dan Forrest and Marion
Kerr costar. It plays from May 21 through June 12. Arnold
Schildkret's book, The Veteran Patient is now available
at both Barnes & Noble and Borders. It can also
be purchased on line at www.xlibris.com or by calling
1-888-795-4274 ex 276. James Manley Green has been cast
in the Los Alamitos production of Lil' Abner as General
Bull Moose. Performances are April 27 through May 13.

Get Well Wishes: Just after the
last bulletin was printed Ron Wisansky underwent triple
bypass surgery on March 10. Please send him best wishes
for a speedy recovery.
