Sheldon Metz is coordinating/directing the annual Music Hall. Come down and support Kentwood’s members as they entertain you after the meeting!

Dial "M" for Murder: Who did it? Who's seen it? If you haven't you have until Saturday, October 18 to see this mystery ably directed by Phil Brickey and produced by Margie Bates.

The Supporting Cast: Director Ben Lupejkis and producers Calia Mintzer and Charlotte Lee Schildkret are putting together a wonderful production.

Work Sunday is coming up on October 19. Mark your calendars and come on down! The Supporting Cast opens on Friday, November 7 and plays through December 13.

City of Angels: Director Victoria Miller, Producers Ed & De Cotter, and Music Director Dean Mora will hold auditions for this musical on Saturday, November 8 from noon until 4:00 PM and Sunday, November 9 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the theatre. A song from the show is preferable. Scripts and scores will be available at the October General Meeting. City of Angels will run from January 9 through February 21, 2004.

THERE ARE ALSO MANY JUICY, SMALLER ROLES FOR MEN & WOMEN - Two thugs who beat up Stone, a madam, two cops, a religious leader,etc. These are non singing roles.

Please start looking for clothing from the 1940’s. Maria is anticipating needing a lot of help.

Frosty the Snowman: This wintertime children’s musical in one act by William Frances will be directed by David Parke and produced by Shellee James. It will perform two Saturday afternoons, December 6 and 13 at 2:00 PM. Tickets will be $5 and reservations will be required (festival seating).

This and that (that shouldn’t go unread): The board is considering holding a garage sale for the neighborhood. This would be a semi-social event that will eliminate some extra costumes, props, and furniture.
There will be a curtain announcement played at the beginning of each performance of The Supporting Cast. It will announce the special offer for season subscriptions along with reminding audience members to turn off all cell phones, etc. A lifetime membership will be given to Beverly Summo for 40 dedicated years of reviews.

Proposed Bilaw Change: The following change is proposed for a vote at the October meeting:

5. E. Cancellation of Performances:
The box-office chairperson is permitted to cancel a Thursday night or Sunday matinee performance if there are less than twenty-five (25) reservations two (2) weeks before performance date.

Performances may not be canceled except in the case of an emergency. In the event of an emergency, the President, the Box-office Chairperson, and the Play Producer must be notified.

Dinner Dance: A Dinner Dance Alternative Committee has been appointed to research possibilities for the 2004 dance. DDAC members are: Calia Mintzer, Jeannie Spain, Julia Maggs, and Barbara Brophey.

Here, There, and Everywhere: Sheridan Cole is performing in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons at the Anaheim Community Theatre. It runs October 10 - October 25 (Friday - Sunday) with a special dinner theatre performance on Saturday October 18. For reservations call (714) 635-4249 or call Sheridan at (626) 799-7399. Bella Notte is back by popular demand! Elizabeth Bouton, Jon Sparks, Chris Peduzzi, and Melanie Marshall are performing in the cabaret show the four of them wrote at the WestEnd Dinner Theatre in Los Alamitos on Saturday, November 15 at 8:00 PM (doors open at 6:30). Also at the WestEnd from November 20 through December 14 (Thursdays - Sundays) will be The 1940’s Radio Hour, a radio show seen through the eyes of the theatre audience who become the actual 1940’s radio station audience. Kristen Miller (Vicki and Rocky’s daughter) filmed a pilot in Canada starring Rebecca de Mornay which wasn’t picked up, but She Spies has been picked up for another season. It can be seen at 12:05 AM late Sunday nights on NBC.

Get Well Wishes: Jack and Jeanette Lyons are back in Desert Hot Springs! Jeanette is in a nursing center where she will undergo a rehabilitative regime for the next month or until she’s strong enough to come home. It is located nearby in Palm Springs so Jack will be able to see her daily. All cards, letters, gifts, and well wishes can be sent care of: California Nursing and Rehabilitation Center - 2299 N. The family wants to thank EVERYONE for their incredible support during this trying time. They are eternally grateful for all the love and prayers. Dee Turquand is undergoing Achilles tendon surgery yet again on Thursday, October 9. This time it’s the right foot...no driving for a while. Please wish her a speedy recovery.

In Passing: Gene Casey, the musical director for both Mame and On A Clear Day passed away recently. Most recently he was the musical director for John Abramson’s show, Happiness Is Love and Other Things for which he also wrote the music for the opening number.
