Kiss Me Kate:
This delightful musical being directed by Max Heldring
Stormes and produced by Calia Mintzer and Charlotte Lee
Schildkret opens this Friday, July 11 and continues through
August 23. Make your reservations now before your summer
gets too filled up!
Dial M for Murder:
Director Phil Brickey will be holding auditions for
this suspenseful play (opening September 12 and playing
through October 18) on Saturday, July 12 from 10:00
AM - 4:00 PM and Sunday, July 13 from 6:00 PM - 10:00
PM. If needed, callbacks will be held Monday, July 14
from 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM. The following is the cast breakdown:
Margot Wendice - 30s,
Tonys wife. Standard British accent
Max Halliday: 30s. Margots former lover,
American TV writer
Tony Wendice: 30s-40s. Margots husband,
a former tennis pro, the villain. Standard British accent.
Captain Lesgate (AKA Swann):
A few years older than Tony, a former schoolmate and
present con-man, the would-be killer. Standard British
accent.
Inspector Hubbard: Age open.
Standard British accent
Thompson: Age open. A police
constable. (Cameo role)
Various offstage phone voices,
announcers, and one other non-speaking detective.
Interested in working on the
crew? Contact producer Margie Bates! Also, Margie and
Phil are in need of a bed...for Dial M of course! They
would prefer a roll-away bed or a large cot. It gets
placed onstage for act III so it needs to be portable
and easy fairly easy to move. If you have one that you
are willing to loan, please contact Phil or Margie.
The Supporting Cast: This
comedy to be directed by Gail Bernardi and produced by
Calia Mintzer opens November 7. Look to a future bulletin
for a cast description. Auditions will be held September
13 and 14.
A Midsummer Nights Dream:
Shakespeares unique, clever comedy has been approved
by the board to be directed by Rob Duval for May/June
2004.
This and that (that shouldnt
go unread): House Manager Shellee James is collecting
bids for a new roof.
Season Tickets: A new
proposal to allow audience members to buy discounted
season subscriptions on the night they attend a play
was accepted. An audience member who is interested in
purchasing a season subscription may apply the cost
of that performances ticket to the season subscription
if purchased the same day. Dave Parke will organize
the purchases.
Fourth of July Parade: The
following people participated in this annual parade: Hal
Uncle Sam Fisher, Charlotte Lee Schildkret,
Margie Bates, Maria Cohen, Sheldon and Arlene Cohen, Jim
Crawford, Bill Harred, Shellee James, Alice Lunsford,
Julia Maggs, Alison, Justin, Joshua, and Bianca Mattiza,
Calia Mintzer, Lee and Judy Polak, Adina Silo, Jeanne
Spain, and Rudi and Dorothea Toepfer. All the participants
wore costumes, carried a huge flag, and handed out close
to 3,000 fliers promoting the season. Thanks to everyone
who promoted our theatre on the holiday.

Here, There, and Everywhere:
Rob Duval will be directing a teen production of Into
the Woods this summer. The cast features Blood
Brothers alumni Mai Yaari and Sarah Jay. It will
perform at Windward School located at 11350 Palms Blvd.
on Thursday, July 24 at 7:00 and Sunday, July 27 at
7:00. Tickets are $6 each. Please call Rob for more

in the Santa Barbara area in August, Rob is playing
Tranio in Shakespeares Taming of the Shrew.
It opens at the Fess Parker Winery Friday August 8 and
plays Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 6:00 through

Andy Kallok and Ed Cotter are appearing in both Romeo
and Juliet and Twelfth Night with Shakespeare
by the Sea. Performances continue through July 19 (Thursdays,
Fridays, and Saturdays) beginning at 8:00. Bring blankets,
it gets cool at Point Firman at the end of Gaffey Street
in San Pedro. This ones free! Congratulations
to Mel Oshins who recently won first place in the 50+
age category of the McCallum Theatres Open Call
amateur talent competition on June 14. Get well wishes
to Deena Oshins and her sister Sheri. Deena recently
underwent successful surgery at Loma Linda Hospital
to remove a brain tumor. At the same time, in the same
hospital her sister had an attack of diverticulosis
and needed emergency surgery. Both should be home by
the time you read this. Deena would love to hear from
her Kentwood friends.

bliss this month are Ron and Judy Wisansky (7/1), and
