one act play by Jennie Webb titled, Buying a
House, a Play About Money, Women, and Place, In
that Order will be directed by Larry Jones and
features Elisabeth Tellez, Aileen-Marie Scott, and
James Knudsen. Lights will be by Tara Potthoff and
Props and Set by David Diano. |
Don't Dress for Dinner:
This amazingly well directed and performed farce will
see its final performance on Saturday, June 14. If you
haven't seen it, don't miss out. Director Cathleen Chapin,
producer De Cotter, and a talented cast will leave you
wanting more.
Kiss Me Kate: This
delightful musical being directed by Max Heldring Stormes
and produced by Calia Mintzer and Charlotte Lee Schildkret
opens July 11. Work Sunday is this weekend, June 15
beginning at 10:00 AM. with breakfast! Your help is
needed to bring the set to life. A great lunch is promised,
too! For those of you who help on Sunday, you get first
choice to make reservations for Kiss Me Kate. You
will also earn a point toward your six points needed for
active membership. Come on down.

Dial "M" for Murder:
Director Phil Brickey will be holding auditions for this
suspenseful play (opening September 12 and playing through
October 18) on Saturday, July 12 from 10:00 AM - 4:00
PM and Sunday, July 13 from 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM. If needed,
callbacks will be held Monday, July 14 from 7:00 PM -
10:00 PM. The following is the cast breakdown:

2003 Dinner Dance: If you
have not RSVP'd to this year's gala awards event, call
Calia Mintzer immediately! It's promised to be a wonderful
evening with a new band rehearsing rock and roll, line
dances, and a few other surprises.
This and that (that shouldn't
go unread): The leak in the ladies' room faucet has
been fixed and the paving is finished! Remember, you must
have your membership ticket with you the first time you
are seeing a production. Without it you will be charged
admission (which will be refunded upon receipt of your
ticket). Congratulations to Margie Bates and Bob Sherman
who recently became KP Life Members.
Season Tickets: Our number
of subscribers is dropping. This is not good. Please encourage
the purchase of subscriptions by friends, co-workers,
etc. and get the number of subscribers back up. The theatre
depends on these subscriptions to remain financially healthy.
Fourth of July Parade: The
Spirit of '76... Hal Fisher invites one and all to participate
in this annual event. You can meet at the theatre at 9:00
AM on the day of the parade and borrow a costume or just
show up at Westchester Park at Manchester and Loyola Blvds.
by 10:00 AM and look for the Kentwood sign. Cars will
be provided for any non-walkers. Hal is in search of the
banner, any leads please call him. Also, a big thank you
to Rob Duval for arranging the loan of two drums. (Hal
may still be looking for a fife...) Following the parade
will be a picnic hosted by Shellee James. Need more information?

Here, There, and Everywhere:
Alice Lunsford is assistant director for four new short
musical plays at West Los Angeles City College. Jaz Davison
announced the early closure of the Knightsbridge Pasadena
due to building management problems. She'll be taking
a break until October when she gears up for The Rocky
Horror Show at the Knightsbridge L.A. Rob Duval will
be directing a teen production of Into the Woods
this summer. The cast features Blood Brothers alumni
Mai Yaari and Sarah Jay. It will perform at Windward School
located at 11350 Palms Blvd. on Thursday, July 24 at 7:00
and Sunday, July 27 at 7:00. Tickets are $6 each. Please

Then, if you're in the Santa Barbara area in August, Rob
is playing Tranio in Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew.
It opens at the Fess Parker Winery Friday August 8 and
plays Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 6:00 through

Andy Kallok and Ed Cotter are appearing in both Romeo
and Juliet and Twelfth Night with Shakespeare
by the Sea. Performances begin June 19 and continue through
July 19 (Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays) beginning
at 8:00. Bring blankets, it gets cool at Point Firman
at the end of Gaffey Street in San Pedro. This one's free!
Doris Shoumaker recently fell on her back porch breaking
both her legs. She'd love to hear from old friends right
now.
On a Sad Note: I am very
sad to report the death of long time member Reita Pitt.
Reita was a talented actress and a devoted member. She
will be fondly remembered by many. Her life was celebrated
at a service on June 8. Our heart-felt condolences to
her two daughters, Beverly and Kathy.
