March 2002 Westchester Playhouse

General Meeting: Wednesday, March 20, at 8:00 PM

Hospitality: This month’s goodies provided by ????

Workshop:

This month’s workshop will be the Tennessee Williams one act play, The    Lady of Larkspur Lotion and will be directed by Larry Jones (assisted by Summer Bradley).  It will feature Aileen-Marie Scott, Susan Gordon, and Andy Kallock.

Forty Carats:  Sheridan Cole has adeptly directed this delightful romantic comedy by Jay Allen that opened on March 8 and plays through April 13, 2002.  Producer Rocky Miller and Sheridan have a delightful comedy on their hands.  They extend their whole-hearted thanks to the people who worked so hard to make it possible.  Special thanks and praise go to Max Heldring Stormes and Dave Whale for the many hours they put into building scads of flats and assembling the set, to Phil Massi for costuming the 11 actors, to Richard Potthoff and Tim Kallok for the fine booth help, to Susan Stangl and David Parke for their outstanding sound and light design, and to Jim Crawford who not only played a role, but stage manages as well.  Be sure to make your reservations soon!  Since the last bulletin, James Patrick Foley stepped into the role of Pat and the assistant stage manager.  Additional thanks go to Jennifer Porter (dresser), Barbara McMurray (script supervisor), Michael Cohen (design work), and Alice Lunsford (loan of original watercolors).  Thank you also to the following people who came out and pitched in on Work Sunday:

Miriam Amster, Gail Bernardi, Maria Cohen, Bill Harred, Shellee James, Larry Jones,             Tim Kallok, Julia Maggs, Treva Merritt, Calia Mintzer, Kirk Larson, Frank Olivadoti,             Dave Parke, Tony Pereslete, Toula Pessah, Sally Pierce, Lee Polak, Charlotte Lee             Schildkret, Bob Schnauss, Adina Silo, Jon Sparks, and David Zabalaoui.

The Boys Next Door:  The May - June offering written by Tom Griffin is being directed by Charlotte Lee Schildkret and produced by Calia Mintzer and Lee Polak.  Auditions were just held and the cast will be announced at the membership meeting.

Musical Concert Series 2002:  Forever Plaid directed by Kirk Larson and produced by Michelle Rosen and Jeff Wallach opens March 17 and plays for four Sundays.  Remember, members get admitted to one performance as with the regular season.  Don’t miss out!

This and that (that shouldn’t go unread):  We’ve had a very unfortunate slump in our season subscriptions.  In an effort to increase our numbers local realtors are being invited to the first Saturday performance of The Boys Next Door as our guests to promote purchasing a season for new buyers in the neighborhood as a thank you gift from them.  Lee Polak is proving himself to be a negotiating whiz.  He negotiated a new contract with Waste Management lowering our monthly payment by $40.  Nice work!  The side door to the lobby has a new door stop thanks to Bob Schnauss.  While we’re on the subject of doors, Bill Harred will be replacing the lobby door that has the combination lock.  Finally, mark your calendars for the annual Dinner Dance which will be held on Saturday, June 22.  (More details to follow in the coming months.)
